College Essay Topic 1 to UIUC In an essay of 300 words or less, write about how your personal or academic interests relate to your intellectual or professional goals. Buildings, lights, skylines, color, detail, those things come to mind whenever I am drawing a sketch of a skyline of a big city. It has been a hobby of mine ever since I was young, and from that point on, I knew that I wanted to become an architect. Ironically, my interest in drawing buildings happened after returning from a trip to Chicago at age six, attending a Cubs game. I remember becoming glued to the window of my dad’s car watching the big bright buildings go by, while most other kids my age were probably playing their GameBoys, and would find looking out the window boring. All I thought about was to design a beautiful structure, and say, I was the one who designed that. Realistically, at age six, there was not really a final goal as to what I wanted to be when I grow up, but there was something about the big cities and the building’s architecture that fascinated me. Growing up playing, and watching sports made me travel to cities such as Chicago, and I believe that traveling helped me create a vision for my drawings. Traveling to play, or attend a sporting event made me benefit not only from the excitement that comes in sports, but also, got me glued to the window of my dad’s car to look at the tall buildings in the city. Today, I can definitely say that I want to major in architecture, and have a career in architecture. Ever since I was six, I enjoy traveling to cities to view the architecture, and I see myself designing a next gen building, and the feeling that there may be someone with the same goal as me, at a young age, that would be fascinated at this building that I designed. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE EXACTLY 300 WORDS, ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW, THANK YOU!!... Read More »
